PURITYRUNG X PURITYRING

2 minutes left until I turn twenty and I'm sat at my laptop with multiple tabs awaiting my attention.

Well folks....looks like I'm twenty. Did it really take me 2 minutes to type one sentence? Anyway before we divert into another stratosphere let me tell you why I'm writing this post, haha.

Your boy (me, incase you were wondering) has just trekked home from watching a beautiful concert that I am very likely to be raving about on all my social platform accounts for the remainder of this week.

I saw PURITY RING, in the flesh. The Canadian electro-music duo Megan and Corin graced me, and many others with their electro-flourescent-ethereal magic. Their stage was literally magic.
But before I go ham on these guys, I'll speak a little about their opening act for the night.

BORN GOLD opened the show for the night, and paraded around the stage with a quirky, unhinged bravado. With a light show that would put the London Eye on New Years to shame, these two guys ( Cecil Frena & Eric Cheng) rocked the venue. Although most of the crowd wasn't really grooving, seeing as this band is relatively unknown to us Brits, they were however successful in getting us pumped for the main act of the show.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that they gave us access to a free mp3 sampler // check it out at >> borngold.us/alreadydead <<

My personal favourites are: 'Hunger', 'Hyphen', 'I Want to be Naked' and 'Boring Horror'.

Here's a clip of BORN GOLD performing 'I Want to be Naked'.

Now let's get on with the main course, the piece the resistance, the reason I left my house today, hehe.
PURITY RING! They were awesome, phenomenal, amazing and all the other synonymous adjectives. I honestly had not seen any of their live performance videos, I doubt I've actually watched any of their music videos in detail, but I have definitely listened to their music when they released their debut album Shrines in 2012.

My standout tracks are: 'Crawlersout', 'Obedear', 'Belispeak', 'Fineshrine' and 'Lofticries'.

Fast-forward to 2015 with the release of their sophomore album Another Eternity, and I felt like it was a god-send that the duo would be playing in London. I booked tickets at the chance, and landed with a great front row view of the stage. I was literally about a metre away from Megan.

Their show started with an opening of the curtains, and a set filled with two massive fairy light fixtures on either side of the stage, with Corin's mystical "drum" set placed in the centre, whilst Megan's light-music-making thingy was placed in the forefront.

Every track was introduced with a beautiful and intricate light display, and Megan dominated the stage with her aura, using fans to create a mystical effect as her hair blew in the wind. Corin,  kept the audience thoroughly entertained with the complex light show that meshed so harmoniously with the music.

When my favourite tracks were being performed, I couldn't help but to shimmy and shake (in what room I had left around me ) and sing-along....even if I didn't know all the words. Hey! As long as you're having a good time and feeling the music, there's no need to get all wordsmith at a gig.

My standout tracks from Another Eternity are: 'Push and pull', 'Begin Again', 'Bodyache', 'Heartsigh' and 'Stranger than earth'.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab a great PURITY RING t-shirt. Here's a snap compliments of my full-size hallway mirror.
