CONCERT CAPTURE - CHIME FOR CHANGE FESTIVAL - 01/06/2013

Although this event occurred quite a while ago, I decided I would write a post about it since it was a great experience, and I enjoyed being a part of the cause.

CHIME FOR CHANGE is an organisation founded by GUCCI alongside Beyoncé, Salma Hayek and  Frida Giannini, that promotes education, health and justice for women and girls all around the world. What differentiates this organisation from others is that you actually get to pick where you want your money to go.
For example if you want to help young women in Mali fight female sexual mutilation or support health advocates in the Philippines, you can pick an issue that you feel most strongly about and donate.

CHIME FOR CHANGE hosted a global festival event where ambassadors such as Beyoncé, Madonna, Salma Hayek, James Franco, Zöe Saldana, Jada Pinkett-Smith and many more influential stars were present. Each of the 50,000 concert-goers were able to donate the full-value of their ticket to their chosen cause.

Twickenham Stadium filled up very quickly as people were eager and excited for the iconic tunes of some of the leading world artists such as John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé.

Here's a quick snap of me and my mum amongst the sea full of people.

Beanie - Urban Outfitters // Sunglasses - Urban Outfitters // Scarf - River Island // Cardigan - Primark // T-shirt - Ubran Outfitters

MADONNA gave a speech about education for women, and was very passionate, almost scolding the audience and insisting them to open their eyes to reality, and to raise awareness about the lack of educational opportunities for women around the world.

The Queen of Pop wore a black turtle-neck sweater, long billowing trousers and black lace gloves.

IGGY AZALEA flaunted her figure in this frilly red and pink number, whilst performing her hit single 'Work'.

FLORENCE WELCH wore a flowy teal number, matching her ethereal demeanour on-stage. Her performance was very fairy-like and she grasped the attention of the audience with her other-wordly voice.

She performed popular hits such as 'You've Got the Love' and 'Dog Days are Over'.

JOHN LEGEND donned the stage with a prowess and confidence like no other, which he maintained both on and off the piano. He presented us with shimmies and shakes during his more active songs, and a more mellow demeanour whilst performing his hit song 'Ordinary People'.

He and FREIDA PINTO both looked quite dapper and smart in their contrasting Gucci suits.

The sisters from HAIM incorporated feline prints in their outfits and rocked the stage with an intense bravado. They performed their hit 'Forever' along with many other songs (singles at the time) off their debut album 'Days Are Gone'.

J-LO brightened the stage with her charisma and latina swagger. She busted a move through her older singles like 'Love Don't Cost a Thing' and 'Get Right', and more recent songs like 'Live It Up' and 'On the Floor'. She reminded us that she was Jenny From the Block with her enthusiasm and energy.

ELLIE GOULDING showed off her musicality by performing using her musical equipment. She rocked the stage with a passion and confidence. Her voice went hoarse with her intense screams and shouts of enthusiasm as she fed of the crowds energy. She performed hits such as 'Anything Could Happen', 'Lights' and 'I Need Your Love'.

Last but certainly not least, the DIVA, the QUEEN, BEYONCÉ took the stage and boy did she work it!! She started the performance with her rendition of Etta James' 'At Last' and then pumped up the volume with the symbolic anthem of the whole event 'Run the World (Girls)'. She got the audience involved with 'Irreplaceable', teasing the audience and showing off her playful character alongside her musical diversity.

She displayed her powerful vocals and energetic African dance skills during 'Grown Woman' showing us that she definitely is one. She also displayed a passion for culture, women and performance. She diligently performed such hits as 'Halo', 'Single Ladies' and the Destiny's Child hit 'Survivor'.

Mr Carter himself, JAY-Z even popped out for a little support which was sweet to see, that he supports his wife and her views. The two love birds gave us a little throwback with their performance of 'Crazy in Love'.

Other performers included, Rita Ora, Laura Pausini, Timbaland, Jessie J, Mary J Blige and Simon Le Bon. Other celebrity speakers made an appearance such as Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Chastain & Aishwarya Rai, along with spokeswomen from the various causes and charities that CHIME FOR CHANGE supports.

I thoroughly enjoyed this festival, being surrounded by a bunch of powerful and influential performers who are fighting for a great cause. It was an unforgettable experience that I wouldn't trade for the world.
