Angel Eyes : through my eyes : Episode 10

This episode opens on a much lighter note, compared to the ending of episode 9, where Dong Joo was solemnly crying in dear Soo Wan's arms. Dong Joo and Soo Wan are cooking in Dong Joo's apartment, and the atmosphere is pretty light, jokey and flirtatious. The two 'soul-mates' eat a fried prawns meal in Dong Joo's comfy living room.

Meanwhile in the dark, grimy streets of Seoul, Ji Woon is treating himself to a depressing dinner for one. Min Soo's arrival makes it a not so depressing dinner for two. Min Soo seems to be on every guy's speed dial whenever they're in a pickle and need some moral support. Last episode it was Dong Joo, this episode it's Ji Woon. Who's next?  But all jokes aside, she seems to be a great shoulder to lean on/ear to be spoken to and just a great gal who's there to help a guy let off some steam.

Soo Wan finds the box of letters that Dong Joo had been sending to her all these years, in his room. But they all have 'return' stamps on them. Something's up here.....could this be Soo Wan's fathers' doing?

We find out that Director Oh (Ji Woon's mother) is partly responsible for Jung Hwa's (Dong Joo's mother)s' death. I knew there was something fishy about the Kang's!! So both Director Yoon and Director Oh played a part in the tragic death of the charismatic Jung Hwa?!? OMO OMO! Someone hold me, this is too much for me to handle right now.

Director Oh wants to cut off all ties with Soo Wan now that the guilt from killing Dong Joo's mother has bloomed. She twists her reasoning for her sudden decision by focusing on the fact that Ji Woon is acting all depressed and lovesick. She now outrightly wants them to stop whatever remnants of a relationship they have, so that there's less of a chance of her dark deed being found out.

Director Oh begins to put her 'cut out Soo Wan' plan into action by inviting her out to a café (typical tense conversation location). You know something's about to go down when you're invited to a café, haha. Director Oh notices that Soo Wan (literally) has Jung Hwa's eyes, you can tell that the guilt is driving her decision. She cleverly fishes Soo Wan's true feelings in regards to Ji Woon, by asking if Soo Wan loves her son, and if she's seeing another man. Director Oh projects her guilt onto Soo Wan and makes her now ex-daughter-in-law-to-be feel über awkward and guilty.

Dong Joo (the sweetie bear) asks Soo Wan out for a date atop the Planetarium's roof, where they romantically watch a shooting star whilst in each others arms.

Ellie is finally going to babysit Jin Mo, Woon Chan's son. Woon Chan has a bad feeling about her. He says he feels uneasy in the face of perfection. Teddy who is clearly head over heels for her, suggests to leave his number and even e-mail if she needs to contact them for any reason, haha. Can you say thirsty? Haha, but Seung Ri is just the cutest. I can't even.

Director Oh calls for a formal meeting of the two parents-in-law's (Director Yoon and herself) and the broken partners (Ji Woon and Soo Wan). Director Oh gets Soo Wan to clearly tell everyone that she no longer wants to marry Ji Woon. Ji Woon is gobsmacked and quickly attempts to save the crumbling connection. The line in this scene that made me guffaw was 'It's a shame we're no longer in-laws' I'TS A SHAME MY A$5! You clearly don't want them to be together. Even though her primary reason for wanting them to formally break-up is because she doesn't want to be found out, I'm sure that she also can't bear to see her son sulking like a snivelling schoolchild. Her next line is a killer. 'Don't wrinkle your style'. LOL! How can your mother tell you to not wrinkle your style for a girl you love?! I'm joking I get it! Ji Woon just can't let go, and needs a wake-up call. But still...Director Oh is becoming my love/hate character in this series.

Ellie may seem to be the perfect babysitter in Jin Mo's eyes. But definitely not in Woon Chan's. When Teddy and Woon Chan arrive at their home, they see that the apartment has been turned over. Teddy loves Ellie's eccentric quirkiness and child-like behaviour. Poor Woon Chan thinks otherwise.

Okay, so this is one of my favourite lines to date in this series.
'To not love at all, more than losing that love, is a bigger torment' He comforts Soo Wan who feels guilty for breaking up with Ji Woon who loved her with all his heart.

Choi Jin Sang is back at the hospital and this bothers Director Yoon. Could it be because he knows the truth behind Jung Hwa's demise?

Dong Joo takes out Soo Wan for a shopping trip to buy gifts for Parents Day. We're presented with an awesome flashback, (flashbacks are my fave 'cause we get to see Kang Ha Neul/ the young Dong Joo and Jung Hwa), where Jung Hwa says that if Dong Joo wants to show Soo Wan that he truly loves her, that he should show it through actions and not only words. So he buys her a new bag, and Director Yoon a tie, since he considers Director Yoon to be his father.

Soo Wan upon her arrival home finds out that her father, Director Yoon, kept Dong Joo's letter with his American address from 10 years ago. Which means that he was the one that broke off all contact, and not Dong Joo, as we all know. He attempts to substantialise his actions by telling her that he wanted them to have better lives, and live separately as his children, not as lovers. But we all know that another reason for why he didn't want them to be in contact was because he felt guilty for killing Jung Hwa in order for Soo Wan to see. I genuinely feel sorry for him here.

On an emotional bus ride to Dong Joo's apartment, Soo Wan reads the letter that reveals everything that happened during and after her surgery: the fact that he had to leave to the U.S for Hye Joo's surgery and that he's sorry he had to leave her when he promised he'd be there when she 'came-to'. She realised that he must have been having a tough time at the time and rushes over to embrace him.

I really love the conversation between Dong Joo and Soo Wan when they're reminiscing about Jung Hwa, my favourite lines from this scene has to be: 'How precious something is, why do we only realise when it's gone'. And 'Among those my beautiful kids I was there too'.

Soo Wan has a touching conversation with her father, about why Dong Joo is so special to her. And asks that he lets them be together.

Director Yoon visits his wife's grave. He confesses that he loves Dong Joo as a son. We can see that he is honestly at a loss here, he doesn't want to feel the guilt for killing Dong Joo's mother, and he knows that if he does tell 'his kids' that they won't look at him the same way.

Dong Joo really values his relationship with Director Yoon, the two often go on fishing trips. This line from Director Yoon made me laugh out loud. 'Why are you so talkative today? It's noisy. All the fish will swim away' LOL I love Jung Jin Young! Dong Joo declares that he understands why Director Yoon may disapprove of his relationship with Soo Wan, and he says he's disappointed. So Director Yoon must probably be thinking how great his potential son-in-law is, and that he should just let them be together. He finally gives Dong Joo formal consent to make her daughter happy. FINALLY! But there a 10 episodes left...the story doesn't end here, something bad is sure to happen in the next episode.

Will we find out if Kang Tae In (Jin Woo's father) has something to do with the car that hit Jung Hwa's mother? Will Soo Wan and Dong Joo find out that Director Yoon and Director Oh had something to do with Jung Hwa's tragic demise? Will the lovebirds relationship remain strong after the cat is let out of the bag? Aaa!! So many questions left unanswered, we'll just have to wait until the next two episodes.
