Angel Eyes : through my eyes : Episode 9

Ji Woon has finally realised that Soo Wan and Dong Joo were speaking about one another when talking about their first loves to him. He finally pieces the puzzle together and with a dramatic memory montage and depressing rain scene, he finally found out.

Of course, Soo Wan feels guilty for breaking it off with him, more so because he is a pretty great guy who whole-heartedly loves her. This is bittersweet, the sweet part being that Dong Joo and Soo Wan can finally be together...well if her father approves that is. I mean, Director Yoon did kind of make it clear infront of both Ji Woon and Soo Wan that he saw Dong Joo as his own son. This kind of puts the two love birds in a tight spot.

Dong Joo being the gentle boyfriend that he is, tries to console her.

*Insert generic saucy naked shower scene to highlight Ji Woon's loneliness, heartbreak and social isolation*

Ji Woon's mother Young Ji acts as a helping hand to Director Yoon, whilst investigating Dylan Park's background as she fears that he is the cause of an apparent strain in the relationship of Ji Woon and Soo Wan. This raises suspicions! Why would she, other than the fact that she is worried for her son, be so curious about Dong Joo's actions and background? Something else is going on here.

Teddy 'fanboying' over Dong Joo's medical intel is adorable to watch, haha.

Ji Woon at this point has already figured out that Dong Joo and Soo Wan are in love with one another, and feeling betrayed he acts coldly towards Dong Joo.

Whilst the other doctors think that this hostility is due to the fact that Dong Joo left the Hospital to work in the Fire Department, we know that it's because Dong Joo stole Ji Woon's woman. Well, as she says herself, he never filled 'the first-seat of her heart'.

Ji Woon and Dong Joo have this tense heart-to-heart at the bar where Dong Joo finally confesses and tells Ji Woon about his and Soo Wan's love history.

Obviously Ji Woon feels betrayed and bitter about having his love being taken away by someone he considered to be a genuine friend. Ji Woon throws an unconvincing punch and exclaims that he'll take care of Soo Wan. So he's going to be fighting for a love that doesn't exist?

A battle for the heart that already belongs to Dong Joo. Yes, this is the part where we feel pity towards poor Ji Woon if we weren't already feeling sorry for him at the start of the episode. He ends up confessing to Soo Wan that he'll fight for the 'front seat in her heart'. He's totally DRUNK IN LOVE if I were to put it in Queen B's words. This means that we should expect some more confrontation between the guys? It's getting hot in here!

Dong Joo feels bad for taking Ji Woon's love away and calls up Min Soo for a little pep-talk but she's in the middle, she's neutral and doesn't really care for Dong Joo being with Soo Wan. I do agree with her a little, I mean as much as I love Soo Wan and Dong Joo together, Ji Woon was a great suitor for Soo Wan. But first loves, according to K-dramas, reign supreme!!!

So Dong Joo's sister Hye Joo (Ellie) is back and how cute is she?

Before it even happens, I don't know if I can read what will happen ahead of time, my brain usually pieces signs together pretty fast, or if the writers are just really good at what they do, or (if we want to get really psychological about it) my brain is just filled with a gajillion scripts that I know what will happen before what will happen happens. Haha, you decide.

But in the next scene where Woon Chan said that he needs a babysitter for Jin Mo I could totally tell that it would be Hye Joo since she's out of work. And obviously Seungri ooops, sorry Teddy* was elated! Can we now assume that there's going to be a secondary love line between Teddy and Ellie?

Isn't this scene so cute? We get to focus on their playful relationship and caring nature towards one another. These actors have some serious chemistry.

To add some balance to all the romance, depression and mystery we're presented with a rescue scene where we see Soo Wan at work once again with Woon Chan. Here they're attempting to save a suicide jumper from potential death, they end up plummeting to the ground in an attempt to save the guy.....well into a fall arrest airbag......these are stunt doubles? Right?

After hearing that Soo Wan fell in a rescue, the two males of the love triangle rush anxiously to check on their sweet, innocent love.

As we can see! There is some serious tension and heat in this scene, hence why it's one of my faaavourites!! Did I just see a thermometer break? 'I'M SORRY, DR KANG JI WOON. HOWEVER I WAS FIRST' << This line right here speaks volumes! Probably the most significant line in the whole episode. Dong Joo is telling Ji Woon to BACK OFF as he rightly should. I mean, for how long can you let some other guy attempt to take your first love from you? Looks like there's going to be some big battles between these two, haha. I can't deny the fact that I'm looking forward to it.

Ji Woon isn't ready to let her go, clearly he still thinks there's space for him in her heart, he's sadly become that piece of chewed gum that you just can't get off the bottom of your shoe, no matter how hard you try to. But what can you do? He's DRUNK IN LOVE.

My suspicions were right about the Kang family! Supposedly there is a connection between Kang In Tae (Ji Woon's father) and Jung Hwa's car-crash incident. This is getting very in-te-res-ting. And with the phone call that Ji Woon's mother was making earlier, that just seals the deal and showcases that there is definitely something fishy about the Kangs.

The cat is finally out of the bag!! Although the bag was pretty ripped anyway, soooo... I mean Soo Wan finally confesses to her father that she is in love with Dong Joo, which is great!! Except for the fact that Director Yoon's overbearing guilt for aiding in the death of Dong Joo's mother has him quaking in his boots at the thought of Soo Wan and Dong Joo getting together and the truth about Jung Hwa's death getting out there!!!!  Soo Wan thinks that Director Yoon helped Dong Joo to study in the States because Jung Hwa gave her eyes to Soo Wan, but truly he sent Dong Joo to the States so that the truth was far away from his face. We all know he let Jung Hwa die so that Soo Wan could see again, if this truth gets out, I honestly don't know how these two are going to cope with it. Poor Soo Wan, poor Dong Joo, poor future eyes of mine that will be crying waterfalls when the truth is out.

Okay, so these two are just super cute. What even is this? A bordeline cringefest? I think so! As scripted as this part was, you have to admit that it woooorks ~~

Lol, Soo Wan, Dong Joo and their loooove sickness. Soo Wan tells Dong Joo that Director Yoon cherishes him a lot, and to not be fearful now that their love is out there.

Soo Wan meets up for what seems to be the last time with Ji Woon and Ji Woon says that he doesn't want to let her go. He reminds her that she shouldn't love Dong Joo because he left her when she needed him the most. And that the Dong Joo she loved was only in her blind memories and is not present in Dylan Park. Bad move duuuuude. Bad move.

Hye Joo apologises to Soo Wan for leaving without saying goodbye. In a touching scene where she serves her her favourite pumpkin pie, the pie that Jung Hwa used to make. Hye Joo confesses that she wants Soo Wan to make her brother happy as he worked so hard to take care of her in America.

Haha! On a much lighter note, Teddy is elated that Ellie will be babysitting Jin Mo. It's hilarious how Dong Joo teases him. Teddy is one of the best characters of the series, the perfect pinch of light-hearted comedy to this quite serious drama.

*Insert happy couple at the supermarket montage so we're not overly depressed at all the overly depressing happenings*

Oh this 'I am run-run-running to you' song. *Sigh*. It's come to the point that I can sing all the songs from the series, or hum them at least, lol. Konglish galore!!

Okay, now here comes the heart-wrenchingly sad and depressing yet warm and loving ending to the episode. You ready?

Whilst cooking Soo Wan plays Jung Hwa's cooking tapes that she made for her when Soo Wan was still blind. These tapes are filled with nostalgic memories of when Jung Hwa was alive which is really cute. And we get to see the you Dong Joo a.k.a Kang Ha Neul once more!!! It's really touching to see Dong Joo's reaction to hearing his mothers voice after 12 years. I had to hold back my tears, I couldn't imagine how he feels. Which girl doesn't like a guy who isn't afraid to cry infront of her? That gained him a sweet (and wet) endearing kiss. And with that the episode came to a close.

In a nutshell, Soo Wan and Dong Joo are finally out there as a couple. They clearly told Ji Woon to back off. Woo Chul seems to have a lead on the investigation to find out who Jung Hwa's hit and run perpetrator was. Min Soo thinks that it's Kang Tae In so now we're suspicious of the Kangs. A potential relationship may flourish between Ellie and Teddy. So I guess we can expect some more confrontations, not only between Ji Woon and Dong Joo, but also between Director Yoon and Dong Joo, and even Ji Woon's mother Young Ji.

Ooooooooooooooh, Scandalous (Recess reference).
